Laser Gum Treatment

A patient-friendly treatment of periodontal disease using the lastest technology.

Periodontal disease is an infection of the tissues that support your teeth. Most people don’t know they’re affected, but nearly 3 out 4 of the Americans suffer from moderate gingivitis to severe gum disease. It often leads to even more serious problems like heart disease and premature birth. When early signs of the disease are not treated, the result is loss of your teeth. In fact, periodontal disease is the number one cause of tooth loss in America.

Many people think gum disease treatment is a painful procedure with a long recovery period and shy away from seeking dental care. Fortunately, laser gum treatment has changed that perception.

How does it work?

Tartar, associated with inflammation and occasional bleeding gums, is removed from the root surface of the tooth using an ultrasonic scaler and small instruments.

Then, a small amount of laser energy is directed through a tiny fiber that is gently placed between the gum and tooth. This laser energy removes the diseased tissue on the inside of the pocket and aids in reducing the bacteria associated with the disease. After the area is thoroughly cleaned, the affected area can naturally heal.
